KEYNOTE — We are the Architects

With the rise of the Internet and Web, digitalists have an opportunity to impact the fundamentals of society, home, politics, business, healthcare, education—everything. We can change our world.

But, are we? Are we really innovative and transformative? Or are we simply architecting the same values, prejudices, processes and habits into our naissance digital infrastructure? Let’s explore our role as the primary drivers of the next millennium how the small choices we make in our practice and work make a big difference online, now, and to our collective future.

Lisa Welchman

Lisa helps organizations clarify decision-making authority for all things related to digital development—digital governance. That means she's often in the middle of organizational disputes, and she likes it. Lisa's core strength is helping to resolve differences of opinion among digital stakeholders. She works closely with organizations to understand why there are challenges around managing the organization's digital presence and then works collaboratively with her clients to create solutions to resolve those challenges.

Lisa works with all sorts of organizations: large governmental and non-governmental agencies, global for-profit businesses, and universities and colleges. Digital governance is an equal-opportunity concern.

Lisa has been focused on large web site management and digital governance since 1999, when she started an independent consulting practice after being a web publishing manager for Cisco Systems. At Cisco, Lisa was fortunate enough to work with multi-channel content delivery and portal, web content management and other technologies in their infancy. She also experienced first-hand the dynamics that occur between various stakeholders—business units, marketing communications, IT—when they all have an interest in the web.

Lisa is based in the US and supports clients all over the globe. She keeps a blog on corporate web strategy and governance at the WelchmanPierpoint website. She's also writing "Managing Chaos: Digital Governance by Design" for Rosenfeld Media.

About EuroIA

Over the past nine years, we have broken down cultural barriers, initiated dozens of conferences across Europe, and forged careers. We are proud of our accomplishments, but we know we can achieve even more.

Today, our focus is on breaking down global barriers and sharing information far beyond European borders. This is why our programme now features presentations from the Americas, Asia, and the Pacific Rim.

Yet we remain European. So, what is “Europe”? In terms of geography, we’re east of Greenland, west of Moscow, south of the Artic, and north of the Mediterranean. But the geography is secondary. “Europe” is more a state of mind than an area on a map. But that doesn’t make it less distinct.

Learn. Share. Network. That is what we help you do. And we hope to see you in Edinburgh.
