The IA Jam Session

Friday night, September 25

Once again, EuroIA invites you to join ‘The IA Jam Session’ – a whole evening during which you can showcase your achievements and share experiences, tips, tricks, and advice.

How do I join?

The IA Jam Session takes place on the first night of the conference. All you have to do is show up, grab a spot to set up your computer or hang up your documents. Walls, tables, and WiFi will be provided. Bring along anything you think will help you communicate your message – an on-screen demo, printed copies of an interesting case story, research reports, personal work, anything that effectively presents your ideas.

To give your work a little bit of context, we are asking all contributors to complete this coversheet that collects a short description, of why and how you use your presentations and deliverables. This information will be posted on the wall or by your laptop.

And since we know that like any good Jam Session, artists inspire each other. So, you can fill out details by hand during the conference and stick them up on the wall yourself. In other words, you can join in the fun at the very last minute. No submission papers required!

Several IA Jam Session facilitators will be on hand to help. Ask them for a badge sticker to let folks know your deliverables are on display. This makes it easier for people to find you if they have questions or comments.

Remember, you are not limited to paper documents – installations, assemblages, design artifacts, and bizarre sculptures made of peanuts and toothpicks are welcome. As long as you think they effectively communicate IA principles, we promise you to give them the love they deserve!

If you’re working under an NDA, you can always share work in template form using dummy data as long as the main concepts are clear and easy to grasp.

Access to deliverables can be made online after the conference on the EuroIA website.

The session will last for two hours with a drinks bar and small salty things in bowls.

Prizes

To make things a bit more interesting, all attendees can vote for their favourite contribution. The best will get free registration to next year’s conference! Voting cards will be available at the registration desk and the winner announced at the end of the conference.

Constraints

There are a couple of minor limitations regarding the size of your display. First, you probably won’t have room for documents that are bigger than Tabloid/A3 sheets. There are no strict limits on the number of pages (but don’t tape them together to make a huge overpowering poster). Second, if you want to print your deliverables after arrival in Copenhagen, we’ll give you a couple of addresses for print shops. But printing is up to you entirely. Got it?

Sponsor the IA Jam Session

If you are interested in sponsoring opportunities please contact: Reinoud Bosman (reinoud.bosman at gmail.com). There are tremendous opportunities here (everyone is relaxed, happy, and slightly drunk, so folks are generally in a receptive mood).

That said, as far as the Jam Session itself is concerned, we’re strictly interested in projects, processes, deliverables that provide ‘real learning’. So, no commercial pitches, recruitment, or product showcasing.

But, hey, do you have something you’ve done that you’re particularly proud of? This is the perfect opportunity to share, learn, and grow professionally.

See you on Friday night, September 25th, in beautiful downtown Copenhagen, Denmark!
